HAND DRILLS

Basic hand drills are absolutely essential in our classes. These can tkae many forms and levels.

Basic 1

Static single hand drills on a pad or paddle, like a punch or chop

 

Basic 2

Static single block using a shinai or boken type tool; blocking edge of the hand should be padded first, then exposed, and treated after with appropriate medicine.

 

Intermediate 1

Dual drills against pads, eg. front grab, right cross; back first, cross

 

Intermediate 2

Multiple drills against pads, e.g. front jab, right cross, reverse back fist, ridge hand.

 

Advanced 1

Defensive back fist against a guarding hand with the lead hand, opposite right cross, opposite body hook, opposite rabbit punch or hook to back of head.

Advanced 2

Attacking back fist against a guarding hand with the lead hand, opposite right cross, opposite body hook, opposite rabbit punch or hook to back of head.
