CIVILIAN KNIFE SKILLS (1/3) - Basic Techniques
The following are some basic knife techniques that we teach to senior members, especially females.
Allow us to clarify several key points:
1. |
The technique are done with a short pocket flick knife that has a blade length of less than 5" |
2. |
These are modeled on, but are NOT our military blade program.
|
3. |
These techniques are NOT Korean MA sourced in nature, although some DNA does exist. They are mostly culled from the teachings of my late senior, Ken Thow and various military inputs.
|
4. |
They are designed to be unisex effective i.e. Effective for both males and females. |
5. |
The blade stance and cuts are not meant to be overt and some deft hand and foot skills are required.
|
6. |
We are assuming a last ditch defence against an armed attacker who wishes to do harm against the potential victim. Remember that standing inside a 6' circle of a knife holding opponent, strike or not, is dangerous. |
7. |
Virtually all counters or cuts must be followed up by a parry check of the opposite hand.
